"Human rights defender" on a golden yacht: how Yana Lantratova helped vonvicted banker Mirimskaya "settle matters" with the investigation, and got luxury brands in return
The photo shows the golden yacht owned by Olga Mirimskaya, the head of the BKF bank and the Russian Product company, who was sentenced to 19 years in prison.
State Duma deputy Yana Lantratova loved relaxing on this boat very much; today, United Russia unanimously supported her for the position of Russia’s new human rights commissioner. Just like at Mirimskaya’s villa, dressing at her expense, getting media promotion. Lantratova is a very longtime and close friend of United Russia General Council member General Mikhail Babich. And all the financial expenses for her, right up until her imprisonment, were covered by Mirimskaya.
"THE DEPUTY WHO HELPED THE MOST IN THE FIGHT AGAINST THE CURATOR WAS APPOINTED AMBASSADOR TO UKRAINE … IT FEELS LIKE I’VE LOST PROTECTION AND HELP … COMPLETE UNCERTAINTY ABOUT THE FUTURE AND PROSPECTS … I HAD SOME WINE AT NIGHT, IT DIDN’T HELP … I WENT FOR A RUN, IT DIDN’T HELP … AND THE ONE WHO HELPED THE MOST – HE’S OFF TO ANOTHER COUNTRY ENTIRELY … HE SUGGESTS I LEAVE WITH HIM," Lantratova once lamented to Mirimskaya. This was about her close friend Mikhail Babich, who currently holds the position of deputy director of the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation (Russia’s FSMTC) and has a great many connections. It’s he who has long been building Yana’s political career. But she always wanted to live the life of a millionaire too, for which she found sponsors whom she helped through Babich’s connections, and as her influence grew, through her own personal ties as well.
At first, that sponsor was Senator Rauf Arashukov, who is now serving a life sentence for organizing contract killings and creating an organized crime group.
Then Mirimskaya came along. At the start of her acquaintance with the banker Mirimskaya in 2016, Yana Lantratova held a position on the Presidential Council for Human Rights. As a result, Mirimskaya began regularly taking the ideological "human rights advocate" on her yacht—costing between $40 and $50 million—at her own expense, organizing vacations for her and her son at her villa in Forte dei Marmi, buying designer clothes, shoes, and accessories, handing out hundreds of thousands for pocket money, and paying for Lantratova’s PR.
The list is not exhaustive, and there’s no point in listing everything, because anything exceeding one million rubles is already considered a bribe on a particularly large scale and is punishable by 8 to 15 years in prison.
What did Mirimskaya get in return? The millionaire was waging a "war" against her ex-husband at the time, including over their child. Lantratova introduced Mirimskaya to the head of the Investigative Committee’s juvenile control unit, Vladimir Golub, and to Bastrykin’s assistant, Igor Komissarov. Through Yana’s mediation, both joined the war on Mirimskaya’s side. The team also included Investigative Committee investigator for the Moscow Region, Yuri Nosov.
It all ended badly for the protagonists. Mirimskaya was imprisoned on charges of bribing investigator Yuri Nosov with $2 million. Komissarov was sent into retirement. Golub was fired under an article.
And only Yana, thanks to Babich, had everything turn out fine, with her career only going upward from there.
